Pay and Work Rights Helpline 0800 917 2368 is the telephone number of your new best friend at work. The Government has rolled several different help lines into one to make sure that all advice on your employment rights is easy to access. The new service will answer your queries about the minimum wage, working hours, agency working, gangmasters and issues specifically to do with working in agriculture. Call 0800 917 2368 or click here for more details. Employers can get advice from the same source. These rights are there to make sure people can work with dignity and employers can be fair to all their staff. At a time when more people are working through agencies or on a temporary basis it is so important not to lose sight of your basic rights at work. Mortgage Help Since April 2008, 300,000 homeowners have received help and advice from the Government with paying their mortgage. Losing your home because of a temporary cash flow problem, perhaps caused by redundancy, is a terrifying prospect. Nevertheless, tens of thousands of homes have been saved by Government intervention. If you have mortgage worries, talk to someone as early as possible. If your mortgage company does not co-operate, or there are reasons why you don’t want to talk to them, call 0808 808 4000 or click here for advice. Child Maintenance Child maintenance after couples have separated is always an emotional issue and is still a large part of my postbag. The new Child Maintenance arrangements are more flexible than the old CSA. If you are a parent with children and the other parent is not contributing, call 0800 988 0988 or click here for advice. When people are feeling the pinch it is important to provide easily accessible and helpful information as quickly as possible. These measures can help many High Peak people. | |
