Levitt Welcomes Investment in Tameside Hospital (22 September 2007)

MPs welcome investment in Tameside HospitalHigh Peak MP Tom Levitt has welcomed the news that a £88 million redevelopment of Tameside Hospital has received government approval. 

The programme is part of a private finance initiative which will deliver:
- new surgical wards
- a new dedicated children's unit
- a centralised outpatient department
- an integrated X-ray department
- a new and expanded day case and Endoscopy Unit
- new inpatient theatres
- a state of the art Pharmacy.

"This is great news for the people of Glossop, for whom Tameside is the major provider of acute medical and mental services," said Mr Levitt. "This is a great start to the 12 months in which we celebrate 60 years of the NHS, itself a proud Labour achievement."
